This Crochet Dishcloth Pattern is an extremely easy, quick make that will add a touch of flair to any kitchen! Some may be horrified at the thought of using snowy white dishtowels for such a grubby job but the cotton yarn is just perfect drying and as swabs is durable and easy to clean.
The pattern is EXTREMELY simple and the main stitch used is single crochet. However, the only variation that the designer makes is using the single crochet through back loop.
For this Crochet Dishcloth Pattern Margo uses a size US Size 8 (5mm) crochet hook, and any worsted-weight cotton yarn. However, acrylic isn’t recommended for dishcloths as they won’t absorb moisture link cotton does. Additionally, cotton is also heat-resistant in case you need to grab one to use as a potholder.
Some suggested yarns:
- Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran (50 shades)
- Rico Creative Cotton Aran (60 shades)
- Lily Sugar & Cream – The Original (39 shades)
- Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton Yarn (25 shades)
On the other hand, for a nice, neat foundation row, try using the single foundation stitch instead of the chain method.
Margo suggests that when changing colors, carry the yarn along by crocheting over it. However, if you’ve never done this before- don’t worry, it’s super easy! Here’s a helpful video that shows you how!
