We found this Love Graph Crochet Pillow Cover on a website called “Maria’s Blue Crayon” and fell in love with it at once! Maria (the designer) says that this pillow has some of her favorite things. These include a good gradient yarn and a fun, easy project!

If you are new to crocheting graphs and/or corner to corner – don’t worry! Maria suggests Mikey from the Crochet Crowd for video tutorials. However, we prefer Tamara from Moogly’s tutorial. You can find her fantastic corner to corner video HERE. She has a very great way of making the stitch look simple and doesn’t go too fast for beginners!

Love Crochet Pillow Cover Pattern Notes:

Firstly, she tried using tapestry crochet but the color parts were showing up over the white parts and it didn’t look ‘clean’ enough. As a result, Maria used the bobbin method for making the graph. Additionally, she also explains how she got the perfect gradient by taking apart the yarn. Firstly, she unraveled the first color on her skein and cut it up into 3 equal parts. She then started from the top of the pillow (top of the ‘L’ and ‘heart’).

Also, Maria also gives the graph for the front text in block format. Above all, the pattern is laid out very well and is super-easy to follow. Tapestry Crochet is where you crochet over the yarn you aren’t working with for a particular section.

Maria wanted to do something fun so chose to do corner to corner (C2C) for the back of the pillow. Definitely, the c2c backing makes a great diagonal gradient. It matches the front very well! Usually, corner to corner is done using double crochets but Maria used half-double crochets to make the blocks smaller.

This fun pattern will give your living room a fun pop of color, or would be perfect for a girl’s bedroom. You can also use the graph for a matching corner to corner afghan if you love this pattern as much as we do!
