The Solid Shell Crochet Stitch creates a shell pattern with very few holes. The Solid Shell Stitch would be great for bags, cowls, and baby blankets!
The crochet solid shell stitch is an advanced beginner crochet stitch that adds decorative appeal to projects. It makes a great border, or you can work it in rows.
This is a shell stitch that is worked in double crochet stitches with five dc making one shell. As the shells interlock with each other as repeated over two rows, this forms a solid texture. Essentially, this is one of the most common shell stitches in crochet and is often the one that people mean when the refer in general to the crochet shell stitch. Alternatively, crochet the shell stitch in a single color to create a beautiful texture or change colors from row to row for a more intricate design. Working each row in a different color allows the shells to really stand out so that you can see the pattern. Using a variegated yarn creates the same effect where the ‘fans’ of the shells really pop out.
