Mama in a Stitch (Jessica Potasz) has done it again with her amazing Free Girls Sweater Pattern.

Certainly, her favorite thing is the understated boho look thanks to the drape of the fabric. It’s perfect to wear with jeans or leggings! On the other hand, you can buy the ad-free printable pattern HERE.

This cardigan is made with basic shapes and stitch patterns and is simple to crochet. Of course, there’s no difficult shaping in the body, although you will do a little bit of decreasing on the sleeves.

Cost is an important factor when undertaking a large project like this and the super-soft Lion Brand Jeans yarn fits the bill. It feels great when worn close to the skin and also has a lovely soft drape so that the collar could fall nicely.

This unique, boho-inspired sweater is just as comfy as it is cute. It features a flowing collar, textured stitches and a long-line fit. Certainly, this cardigan compliments leggings and jeans alike.  That is to say, you’ll love how soft it is on the skin and how easy it is to crochet!

Stylish and beginner-friendly

Besides using single and double crochet stitches, this pattern also uses the half double crochet stitch (including the front-loop only variation) and both the front post and back post double crochet stitches. Additionally, Jessica also gives clear instructions for a special stitch called the Bean Stitch. Jessica has instructional videos to follow on her website and the pattern is laid out very well.

The Free Girls Sweater Pattern is made up of three rectangular panels which are seamed together at the sides. The width of the cardigan can be adjusted by crocheting each panel for more rows.

Bean Stitch – bean st – Row 1 Ch 2, turn, insert hook in 3rd st from hook, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook in same st, pull up another loop (4 loops on hook) yo, insert hook in same st (6 loops on hook) yo, pull through all 6 loops on hook (bean st made), *ch1, sk st, work bean st in next st; repeat from * across the row.
